About this list

Most of these clubs train their young players in the late afternoon, before the adults arrive. In Leipzig the Schachgemeinschaft Leipzig starts at half past four on Tuesdays, Rote Rüben on Tuesdays at five, SG Turm in Grünau on Wednesdays and VfB Schach on Mondays; SC Leipzig-Lindenau, one of whose players won the under-10 group of the Chemnitz youth open in 2026, runs a youth open of its own, the Franziska Gasch Memorial. BSG Grün-Weiß in Plagwitz offers group lessons for children.

In Halle the Schachverein Saalespringer and the Schachverein Roter Turm both list school chess among their offers beside their own training, and in the Saalekreis Sennewitz, Merseburg and Bad Dürrenberg train children too. South and east of Leipzig the TSG Markkleeberg, the Schachclub Naunhof, the SG Blau-Weiß Altenhain, the Falkenhainer SV and the Krostitzer SV keep Friday youth groups, and the family chess club Randbauer teaches children and adults alike.
