About this list

Every entry here says in plain words that anyone may come. Saturday afternoons at the Garage Ost in the east of Leipzig are the longest of them, four hours of free games for all strengths; the Chess Club at Orinoco Books is a relaxed evening every other Monday with no tournament and nothing to join. The Bürgerverein Messemagistrale opens its chess mornings to all seniors, and the Seniorenbüro Ost listed a chess and Go hour for everyone up to its programme for May and June 2026.

In Halle the Passage 13 neighbourhood café welcomes beginners and stronger players alike on Monday afternoons, the WELCOME-Treff in the Geiststraße plays on Thursdays from eleven, and the city library’s chess day in July added a quiz, a craft table and giant chess in the reading yard. The Zwenkau games evening at the KulturKino is open to every young person between ten and eighteen.
